Unlock Your Creativity

Chrysalis began in the mid 80's in response to a need for more expansive dance and choreographic opportunities for students in the Washington DC area. Chrysalis has been re-envisioned and landed in Delaware to provide resources for local studios and schools, connecting the universal language of dance with other arts and culture. Creativity and collaboration along with teaching safe movement practices are just some of the goals with the programs offered. We are committed to educating and developing artists of all ages and skill levels; assisting them in expressing and sharing their voice through dance. As a wholistic, therapeutic, and a universal language , dance brings communities together through outreach programs, performances, workshops, and ongoing classes.
Joan Warburton-Phibbs holds a Master of Science and Fine Arts in dance and physical education from Springfield College and Smith College.  She has studied the Art and Science of Movement in England, danced professionally, and choreographed for companies, colleges, and schools in Europe and America. Over the years, Luis has been a part of Hispanic traditional and contemporary dance organizations where he choreographed and performed salsa, merengue, and bachata dance in many local settings. In addition to working with the Chrysalis Center, Luis is currently working on building a Hispanic traditional dance company to further spread cultural awareness and influence the Latin America diaspora.
